Sun Microsystems Inc.: The supplier of computer systems said first-quarter earnings fell 75% due to a major new product transition. The Mountain View, Calif., company said earnings totaled $5.2 million. Revenue was $538.5 million, up 39% from the same period a year ago. Record backlog and shipments were reported, with two-thirds of the shipments representing new products Sun introduced in April.
