GM Hughes Electronics Corp.: The Detroit-based firm’s third-quarter profit fell 17.7% to $148 million on revenue of $2.6 billion, unchanged from a year ago. The decline was attributed to an 8.4% drop in GM’s North American vehicle production and also reflects a $24-million non-recurring charge related to its plan to cut 6,000 jobs by year-end. GMHE comprises Hughes Aircraft Co. and Delco Electronics Corp.
