San Gabriel : Police Chief to Retire
Police Chief Don S. Tutich, 58, is retiring after 14 years in the post, saying that he plans to devote his full time to his horse-breeding business.
At the same time as he announced his retirement in a letter to City Administrator Robert D. Clute, Tutich also declared himself a City Council candidate in next April’s election. Tutich began his law-enforcement career in 1958, eventually making his way through the ranks in the Burbank Police Department before coming to San Gabriel as chief. Five years ago, he began breeding and training race horses.
The retirement is effective Dec. 1. Clute said the council next month will discuss what to do about a replacement.
