COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Orange Coast Clinches Water Polo Title
Tony Litwak scored seven goals to lead Orange Coast College to a 12-7 victory over San Diego Mesa Friday, clinching the Orange Empire Conference water polo title at San Diego.
Brian Oylear had 13 saves for OCC (22-4 overall and 10-0 in conference play). OCC’s title is its first in three seasons.
In another Orange Empire Conference water polo match:
Cypress 7, Rancho Santiago 5--Craig Shimomura had three goals and Craig Garcia added two for host Cypress (20-8, 7-4). The victory marked the first time Cypress had won at least 20 matches since 1973. Rancho Santiago is 8-15, 0-11.
In Orange Empire Conference men’s soccer:
Orange Coast 3, Fullerton 2--Oldham scored two goals in the first half and Andy Strouse scored in second half as OCC (11-3-2, 5-0-1) opened a 3-0 lead. Fullerton (10-7-1, 3-3) made it close on late second-half goals by Bill Saba and J.R. Ochs.
Cypress 2, Golden West 1--Manny Diaz scored late in the first half to break a 1-1 tie for Cypress (4-9-3, 1-4-1) in the first half. Diego Abbes scored Cypress’ other goal. Craig Larson scored for Golden West (1-12-2, 0-4-2).
In South Coast Conference women’s soccer:
Golden West 5, Oxnard 0--Deena Haurer scored two goals, Kristin Dailey, Leanna Jay and Kerry Kelter had one each for host Golden West (7-5-4, 6-3-1).
