U.S. Covert Operations
The newly written Department of Justice opinion (“FBI Gets OK for Overseas Arrests,” Part A, Oct. 13) purporting to allow U.S. law officers to kidnap fugitives from foreign countries is a blooper of the first order.
Not only would such high-handed activity further damage our already poor international reputation regarding our actual belief in the rule of law, but worse yet, it would openly exhibit a principal trait of the totalitarian minds, i.e., that the end justifies the means. For shame.
