Pop / Rock : Stones Wrap-Up:
It’s official--the Rolling Stones/Guns N’ Roses/Living Colour bill goes into the record book as only the second set of concerts to play to more than 300,000 people at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. The final total, released by concert promoter Avalon Attractions, was 301,569 for the four sold-out dates earlier this month. Only Bruce Springsteen, whose four Coliseum shows in September and October, 1985, drew a total of about 320,000, pulled in more business at the stadium. (The Coliseum concert capacity varies depending on how much room is taken up by the stage and sound equipment. The Stones’ elaborate stage held the figure lower than for the Springsteen shows.)
