NATION IN BRIEF : RHODE ISLAND : Vietnam Stowaway Granted Asylum
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
A Vietnamese national who stowed away on an oil tanker at Ho Chi Minh City, lashing himself above the ship’s rudder, was granted refugee status in the United States after being rejected at several other ports. Claiborne Pell (D-R.I.) and other members of the Rhode Island congressional delegation.
