Don Zimmer of the Chicago Cubs was selected as National League manager of the year by the Baseball Writers Assn. of America.
He received 23 of 24 first-place votes in a landslide win over Roger Craig of the San Francisco Giants. Whitney Herzog to the St. Louis Cardinals was third, followed by Art Howe of the Houston Astros and Jack McKeon of the San Diego Padres.
