Magazine Names Lyons Cos. No. 1 U.S Home Builder

The William Lyon Cos., headquartered in Newport Beach, was named the nation’s No. 1 residential builder in terms of revenues by Professional Builder magazine.

In the magazine’s 22nd annual “Report of Housing Giants,” Lyon was the only firm, with $1.1 billion, to report housing revenues of more than $1 billion.

Seven builders nationwide listed more than $1 billion in total revenues, or non-residential as well as housing, but none reported revenues from building housing as high as Lyon’s.

However, in the combined category, counting non-residential as well as residential revenues, three Dallas-based companies scored higher than the Lyon Cos., which also does a small percentage of non-residential work.

Trammell Crow Co. was at the top of the survey, with $3.01 billion in total revenues, followed by Lincoln Property Co., with $2.12 billion, and Centex Corp., with $1.84 billion.
