Golden West Wins Water Polo Tournament
LONG BEACH — Golden West College defeated Long Beach City College, 17-7, Saturday at Belmont Plaza pool to win the South Coast Conference water polo tournament.
Driver Henry Rabello had four goals, and two-meter man Pono Faulkner had three to pace Golden West (26-3, 8-0). Goalie Scott Taylor had 17 saves for Golden West.
Long Beach (25-4, 6-2) was led by driver David Nestor, who had two goals.
Golden West took a 6-1 lead after the first quarter, extended the margin to 13-3 at halftime, and led, 17-4, after three quarters.
The victory was the 100th for Golden West Coach Ken Hamdorf in his four years at the school.
