Ex-Wife Arrested After Couple’s Bodies Are Found
SAN DIEGO — Daniel T. Broderick III, a well-known medical malpractice lawyer and doctor and past president of the county Bar Assn., and his wife were found shot to death Sunday morning in their home, police said.
The bodies of Daniel Broderick, 44, and his wife, Linda, 28, were discovered shortly before 7:30 a.m. by friends who forced their way into the home in the Hillcrest area.
Police said the attorney’s former wife, Elizabeth Ann Broderick, 41, accompanied by her attorney, surrendered at 4:30 p.m. at police headquarters, where she was questioned and later booked for investigation of murder.
“The motive appears to be related to (Daniel and Elizabeth) Brodericks’ previous marital breakup,” Police Lt. Gary Learn said. “The investigation is continuing.”
After the separation, Broderick became engaged to Linda, whom he had met in 1983, and their recent marriage enraged his former wife, friends and fellow lawyers said.
They said Elizabeth Broderick continually bothered her former husband and his new wife, to the point that a security guard was hired and court orders were obtained to protect them from her harassment.
