Creationism and Evolution
Bravo! Bravo! The article by Shaver on what many scientists are saying about the theory of evolution and the Curriculum Commission was excellent.
For decades the word has been “tolerance, tolerance”! All views about anything (or everything) should be heard. But now, when the subject of “religion” becomes part of our growth as more intelligent beings, our tolerance has become intolerance.
The commission is afraid that the slightest hint of anything resembling “a supernatural origin” (in the school books) would bring down the world on them. That’s the real rub. And the good, modern, fair solution? Be tolerant and present all ideas? Never. We deny the evidence and insist that only our answer can be heard. Those people on the commission should never accuse anyone of being bigoted.
