ON THE SIDELINES : De Lorenzi Quits B&H; Mixed Pair
MARBELLA, Spain — A lingering case of tendinitis in her left wrist has forced defending champion Marie Laure de Lorenzi of France to withdraw from the Benson & Hedges Mixed Pair Trophy, which starts Thursday at the Aloha Golf Club.
De Lorenzi, who has dominated European professional women’s golf for the last two years, teamed up with Mark McNulty of Zimbabwe to capture last year’s inaugural tournament in Madrid.
McNulty had announced earlier that he would not be back to defend the championship.
De Lorenzi retired during the second round of the Biarritz Ladies Open played on her hometown course two weeks ago, then missed the Spanish Ladies Open last week at La Manga where she again was the defending champion.
