Olson got 26 first-place votes and two seconds from a 28-member panel of the Baseball Writers Assn. of America for 136 points. Pitcher Tom Gordon of the Kansas City Royals was second with 67 points, followed by outfielder Ken Griffey of the Seattle Mariners and third baseman Craig Worthington of the Orioles.
