Bernheimer’s comments about Horowitz’s “carefully doctored” piano and enjoyment of the company of “doting boys” set a new low. In time, Horowitz’s performances will stand alongside the great art of the centuries. To paraphrase a New England lawyer some decades ago to a U.S. senator: “ . . . at long last, have you no decency?”
