GARDEN GROVE : Students Give Babies a Reading Head Start
Some newborns at the Medical Center of Garden Grove will get a head start on reading thanks to students from Clinton Elementary School.
In observance of Children’s Book Week, the students will donate a new book to the family of each baby born in the hospital Nov. 13-17. An official presentation ceremony will be made by student council representatives in the newborn nursery on Monday at 1 p.m. The hospital is at 12601 Garden Grove Blvd.
Clinton students began the “Born to Read” program as a community service to emphasize the importance of reading throughout a person’s life, according to school Principal Barbara Batson.
“It makes children aware that books are important even at an early age,” she said.
