Two men were arrested on suspicion of murder stemming from a gang-related shooting earlier this week in Pacoima, Los Angeles police said Friday.

Oliver Johnson, 19, of Canoga Park and Maurice Jones, 19, of Panorama City were arrested Thursday in connection with the death of Timothy Walls three days earlier, Detective Al Ferrand said.

Walls, 20, of Pacoima was shot Monday night while standing at Van Nuys Boulevard and Borden Avenue in Pacoima, police said. A 17-year-old Pacoima boy, whose name was not disclosed, was seriously wounded.

Ferrand would not discuss how detectives identified Johnson and Jones as suspects in the shooting.

A 9-millimeter automatic pistol was recovered at Jones’ residence, leading investigators to suspect that he fired the shots, Ferrand said.

Johnson and Jones were being held without bail at the Los Angeles Police Department’s Foothill Division. Detectives will seek murder charges against them Monday, Ferrand said.
