Bakersfield 61, Pierce 21----The unbeaten Renegades used quarterback Bryan Nixon’s passing attack and 400 yards on the ground to survive a mild first-half scare and hammer Pierce in a Western State Conference game in Bakersfield before 8,427. The win kept Bakersfield atop the Southern Division with a 4-0 record and extended its unbeaten streak to 20 games.
Bakersfield will travel to Valley (4-0) for a game Saturday at 1 p.m. with the division title on the line.
Nixon played only three quarters and completed 17 of 19 for 315 yards and two touchdowns.
Jamie Grossman was 20 of 38 for 319 yards and a touchdown for Pierce but threw four interceptions.
