Hahn to Call for Probe of Top County Contractor
County Supervisor Kenneth Hahn said Tuesday he will call for an investigation and possible cancellation of a contract with a firm that maintains and repairs county vehicles.
Holmes & Narver Services Inc., of Orange, is the largest private contractor doing business with Los Angeles County, which has farmed out work to private firms to save money.
But if the firm were to receive the additional $2.8 million it is seeking from the county, the cost of the contract’s first year would exceed the $14 million the county spent annually when its own employees handled the upkeep of its huge fleet of cars, trucks and prisoner buses. If approved, Hahn’s motion to the Board of Supervisors would call for an investigation of the contract and possibly canceling the agreement and returning to the old system.
