STATE : Ramirez Flown to San Quentin
Convicted Night Stalker Richard Ramirez was flown early today from Los Angeles to San Quentin, where he will become the 266th inmate awaiting the gas chamber on Death Row.
The 29-year-old devil worshiper was flown by sheriff’s helicopter from Men’s Central Jail downtown to Long Beach, where he boarded a small plane for Marin County, arriving shortly before noon.
Prison spokesman Lt. Cal White said Ramirez will spend a week in an “orientation area” undergoing physical and psychological examinations and an evaluation to determine what privileges he will receive, before joining the other condemned prisoners. Ramirez lost all privileges in jail earlier this week after vandalizing a shower air vent.
