NBA ROUNDUP : Rookies Help Sonics Get Past Bullets
Rookie guard Dana Barros scored seven of his 25 points during a 17-2 spurt in the third quarter and the Seattle SuperSonics rolled past the Washington Bullets, 111-98, Thursday night at Seattle.
The Bullets had a 68-67 lead with 6:42 left in the third quarter before the 5-foot-10 Barros and Shawn Kemp, a 6-foot-10 rookie, rallied Seattle to an 84-70 margin.
Kemp finished with 18 points.
Milwaukee 132, Orlando 113--The Bucks tied an NBA record with 50 points in the first quarter,and Ricky Pierce scored 28 points in a victory at Milwaukee.
The Bucks matched the mark for points in one quarter, set by Syracuse in 1962 and tied by Boston and Utah in 1982.
Milwaukee scored the first 13 points of the game and made 21 of 24 field goal attempts in the opening quarter.
Reggie Theus had 33 points for the Magic.
New York 121, Sacramento 102--Patrick Ewing scored 32 points and Gerald Wilkins had 25 as the Knicks halted the Kings’ nine-game home winning streak that started last season.
Ewing, who had 43 points Tuesday night at Portland, made 15 of 26 shots and grabbed 11 rebounds.
