Soviets’ Sensitive Documentary: Eight Soviet film makers have received entry visas to the United States to co-produce a documentary in the Northwest about aviation pioneer Igor Sikorsky, who developed the P-47 Thunderbolt and an early helicopter. Packwood said that because Boeing produces military aircraft as well as commercial air carriers, the State Department had concerns about the project for national security reasons. But those concerns, he said, “are outweighed by the wonderful opportunity for cultural exchange this documentary film making will provide.”
