FARE EXCHANGE: Bus riders have long complained about fare boxes that only accept coins and don’t make change. . . . But it’s a good bet that by next summer, the Orange County Transit District will be installing new boxes that accept dollar bills. . . . Fares, now 85 cents, are continuing their inexorable march upward at about 5 cents a year. Unfortunately, the new machines won’t make change, either.
