UCI Second Seeded in NCAA Water Polo Event
The UC Irvine water polo team is seeded second in the National Collegiate Athletic Assn. championships next weekend at the University of Indiana in Indianapolis.
Irvine (24-6) will play Arkansas Little Rock (19-2) at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the first round. It is the 18th time in 21 tournaments that Irvine has advanced to the championships. Irvine won the title in 1970 and 1982, and finished second six other times.
In other first-round games, California (24-3), the two-time defending champion and top-seeded team, plays Brown (18-9), Stanford (26-7) plays UC San Diego (20-12) and Pepperdine (23-6) plays Cal State Long Beach (18-8).
