Oregon to Accept Independence Bowl Berth

EUGENE, Ore. — Oregon is going to its first bowl game in more than a quarter century, the university’s president said Monday.
Myles Brand said the Ducks have been invited to play Tulsa Dec.16 in the Independence Bowl at Shreveport, La.
The last time Oregon (5-3 in the Pacific 10, 7-4 overall) appeared in a bowl game was 1963, when the Ducks beat Southern Methodist in the Sun Bowl.
