Santa Monica : DC-3 Rides at Fund-Raiser
The Museum of Flying at Santa Monica Airport will stage an Airliner Weekend fund-raiser on Saturday and Sunday, featuring rides on a DC-3 airliner.
For a $40 donation, visitors will get a 20- to 25-minute ride on a DC-3, the Douglas Aircraft plane that was the leading passenger airliner from the late 1930s until the postwar years. Most DC-3s were built at Douglas facilities in Santa Monica.
The weekend flights will be offered from 11 a.m. to dusk both days, weather permitting, on a first-come, first-served basis. Flight crew and attendants will be wearing uniforms from the DC-3’s heyday.
The museum is located one block south of Ocean Park Boulevard at 28th Street. For additional information, call (213) 392-8822.
