Litton Industries Inc.: The diversified defense electronics company reported first-quarter earnings of $43.6 million, largely unchanged from the same period a year ago. Sales totaled $1.22 billion, off slightly from the $1.23 billion reported last year. The Beverly Hills company said revenue from its largest segment, advanced electronics, was down 12% primarily because of the virtual completion of a multiyear air defense program for Saudi Arabia.
