ANAHEIM : Funding Awarded for Resident Services
A counseling hot line, a health-care agency that serves poor people, a homeless shelter and a counseling service for the elderly received a total of $41,300 to provide services for Anaheim residents.
The City Council awarded $10,000 for the next fiscal year to Hotline Help Center of Orange, which provides emergency telephone counseling.
The Orange County Center for Health in Anaheim received $15,000 to provide medical services for low-income residents and publicize health care available at the clinic.
The city also contributed $8,000 toward the operation of the Anaheim Interfaith Shelter, which provides temporary housing and other services at no cost to Anaheim residents.
Through the Orange County Council on Aging, the city is hiring an ombudsman to investigate complaints filed by elderly people living in nursing homes.
The ombudsman service, which costs $8,300, includes visitations and providing information to people who work with nursing home residents.
