LOS ALAMITOS : Court of Appeal Takes on Field in the $15,000 Invitational Trot
Chris and Sara Bardis’ Court of Appeal, a convincing victor last Saturday night, will be gunning for her fourth tally of the year when she takes on a field of eight in the $15,000 Invitational Handicap Trot feature Friday night at Los Alamitos.
Trotters will be in the spotlight in the eighth race on the 12-event program. Fillies and mares will run in the co-feature, a $10,000 Invitational A-1 Handicap, the 10th race.
Victoria Star will be looking for back-to-back wins against the best pacing mares on the grounds.
Bill O’Donnell, the first driver in harness racing history to amass more than $10 million in a single season (1985), has headed west to catch drive at Los Alamitos and will be in the bike three times Friday. He will drive at Los Alamitos through Dec. 9.
The Los Alamitos Racing Assn. and the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve will present Toys For Tots Night Friday. Each patron bringing in a new toy valued at $2 or more will be admitted free.
The field for the $15,000 trotting feature lines up as follows: Moscato Beach, Nicol Tremblay in the race bike; Thadrow, Steve Desomer; Sure Fact, D. R. Ackerman; Hav To Speed, George Cliff; Swiss Connection, Joe Anderson; Supernal, Jack Olsen; Jigglin Joe, Joe Lighthill, and Court of Appeal, Jim Grundy. Reined and trained by Grundy, Court of Appeal showed that she was back in her best form with an easy 3 1/2-length tally over Jigglin Joe last Saturday.
