Valley Center
A 22-year-old Valley Center man was arrested on suspicion of fatally stabbing a woman after an argument Thursday morning, a Sheriff’s Department spokesman said.
Lance Lee Scharton, a laborer who lives in the 16000 block of Paradise Mountain Road, was taken into custody at the same residence where deputies found the body of 56-year-old Gezell Moffatt stabbed to death in a patio area, sheriff’s spokesman Chris Van Olnhausen said.
Homicide detectives said Scharton and Moffatt were arguing when he allegedly knocked her down and stabbed her with a knife.
Scharton, who was booked into the Vista Detention Facility, is expected to be arraigned Monday, a jail spokeswoman said.
