A 19-year-old Cal State Fullerton student who works two jobs won $2 million in the California Lottery Big Spin on Saturday.

Before winner Brett Peterson left his home in Chatsworth to try his luck with the spin, he changed the message on his answering machine.

“Hi, this is Brett, I’m in Sacramento for the weekend. . . . “ the message says. “Wish me luck.”

Peterson’s first spin landed in a double slot and the second in a million-dollar slot for a double payoff.

In addition to Peterson, Man Chung, 48, of Torrance, who came to the United States 14 years ago from Korea, won $1 million. He said he has been working 18 hours a day at the store he owns in Lynwood but will work only 10 hours because of his windfall.

In addition to going to school, Peterson works as a waiter at the Saugus Restaurant and is also a banquet waiter at a hotel.
