ACLU Celebrates the Bill of Rights
The American Civil Liberties Union, commemorating the 198th anniversary of the Bill of Rights, held its annual awards dinner Saturday night in Universal City.
Receiving the ACLU’s Bill of Rights Awards were Alan and Marilyn Bergman, Paula Weinstein and Mark Rosenberg. United Farm Workers co-founder Dolores Huerta received the group’s Eason Monroe Courageous Advocate Award.
ACLU President Eve Triffo and Executive Director Ramona Ripston castigated the Bush Administration for its positions on health care, funds for El Salvador and abortion rights.
