LOCAL : Driver Arrested in Fatal Crash
A woman was killed when her car was struck by an alleged drunk driver and pushed into a row of parked vehicles on a North Hollywood street, Los Angeles police said this morning.
The 43-year-old North Hollywood woman, whose name was not released until her family could be notified, died shortly after the 10 p.m. accident Tuesday in the 12700 block of Oxnard Street, Officer Robert Kalstrom said.
The victim’s westbound car was struck from behind by a car driven by Jaime Ramirez, 30, of Van Nuys, Kalstrom said. The victim’s car then crashed into three other vehicles that were parked along the street, he said. She was taken to North Hollywood Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
Ramirez, who suffered serious injuries in the accident, was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and drunk driving and was being held in the hospital ward of Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center.
