Wrestling Tournament Begins at El Dorado
PLACENTIA — The two-day, 32-team El Dorado High School wrestling tournament begins at 3 p.m. today in the Golden Hawks’ gym. The meet, the first of the season for many Orange County teams, continues Saturday at 9 a.m.
Canyon, led by defending state champion Zach Cooper, will contend for the team championship with Poway and Monte Vista of San Diego. The Comanches are top ranked in the Southern Section 4-A preseason poll.
El Dorado, ranked sixth in the 4-A, and Esperanza, ranked seventh, have an outside shot at the title.
