Here Comes Summer!
Planning your Memorial Day weekend?
As of now, it will be “Back to the Future III” opening against the Tom Cruise racing pic “Days of Thunder.” Also anticipated to open during the official summer kick-off: the Robin Williams comedy “Cadillac Man,” and possibly the sci-fi thriller “Total Recall,” with Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Beyond Memorial Day, tentative summer openings also include:
* Sequels: “RoboCop II,” “Gremlins II,” “Good Morning, Chicago,” “Die Harder,” “Young Guns II,” “48 HRS. NOW!” and another date with dudes “Bill & Ted.”
* Tough guys: Warren Beatty in “Dick Tracy,” Andrew Dice Clay in “Ford Fairlane,” Clint Eastwood in as-yet-untitled actioner, Charlie Sheen in “Navy S.E.A.L.,” Mel Gibson and Robert Downey Jr. in the aforementioned “Air America.”
* Comedy: “Ghost,” starring Patrick Swayze, and “Ghost Dad,” starring the Cos; “Filo Fax,” which teams Jim Belushi and Charles Grodin.
Also due: Harrison Ford in the courtroom drama “Presumed Innocent”; “Mermaids,” comedy-drama with Cher and Winona Ryder; “Memphis Belle,” about a World War II flying squadron, and the aforementioned Fox in a lighthearted thriller, “Hard Way.”
Plus: a reissue of Disney’s animated “Jungle Book,” and the new animated features “Duck Tales, the Movie” and “Jetsons: The Movie.”
To wrap on a creepy note: “Arachniphobia,” directed by longtime Steven Spielberg producer Frank Marshall, about killer spiders.
