The St. Louis Blues had no trouble shooting Monday night against Toronto, but goalie Mark Laforest was able to stop all but one shot as the Maple Leafs took a 3-1 victory at Toronto on two third-period goals by Gary Leeman.

“If you stop a few early, it’s good for your confidence, good for your brain,” Laforest said.

St. Louis outshot the Maple Leafs, 12-4, in the first period and 24-7 in the second, but had only a 1-0 lead. Laforest made 45 saves as the Maple Leafs won their third straight. The Blues outshot Toronto, 46-28, for the game.

Toronto’s John Kordic tied it at 2:34 of the third period and Leeman put Toronto ahead at 9:18.

Calgary 3, Edmonton 3--Rookie Martin Gelinas scored with 28 seconds left in the third period and the Oilers tied the Flames at Edmonton.

Gelinas scored on a pass from Glenn Anderson after a wild scramble in front of Calgary goalie Mike Vernon after the Oilers pulled goalie Grant Fuhr for an extra attacker.
