Bellflower : New President Lists Her Top Priorities for School Board
Phyllis John has been elected president of the Bellflower Unified School District Board of Education. John, who was elected to the board in 1987, succeeds Donald Hansen. She had served as the board’s vice president during Hansen’s two-year term. She is a member of the Bellflower district PTA board of directors.
John said the top priority now facing the board is finding a replacement for Supt. Kenneth Davis, who plans to retire at the end of the school year. Board members also should be accessible to parents and students, she said. “I want people to know that when they have a concern, they can bring those concerns to us,” she said.
Larry Ward, first elected to the board in 1977, is the new vice president. Joyce Miller, who was recently elected to her third term, will serve as clerk.
