Family Planning Weak, China Official Says
BEIJING — Efforts to curb China’s population growth have been too lax over the past three years, Family Planning Minister Peng Peiyun was quoted as saying Thursday.
The Communist Party newspaper People’s Daily said China’s population, the largest in the world, would be 1.112 billion by the end of this year and would grow by 15 million more in 1990.
