MEMORIAL: The 14 women gunned down last week at the University of Montreal will be memorialized at a vigil beginning at 7 p.m. today at the Unitarian Church in Long Beach.
CAR AUCTION: A variety of vehicles seized in drug raids will be auctioned today at 1 p.m in the City of Industry. The auction is being conducted at the headquarters of The Nationwide Companies Commercial Auction Systems.
LAW ENFORCEMENT: Prompted to act by increasing vandalism, the Los Angeles County Transportation Commission on Monday will announce its $1.1-million contract with the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department to provide law enforcement along the entire 22-mile Long Beach to downtown Blue Line, now under construction.
TOY DRIVE: On Thursday, Mayor Tom Bradley will join celebrities in distributing gifts to residents of public housing projects as part of the annual Los Angeles Children’s Toy Drive. Toys will be distributed at 11 a.m. at Imperial Courts, 12:30 p.m. at Nickerson Gardens, 1:30 p.m. at Hacienda Village, 2:30 p.m. at Jordan Downs and 3:30 p.m. at Avalon Gardens.
