Valley Seeks Redemption at Own Basketball Event
After drawing two tough opponents and dropping a pair of close games at the Glendale tournament last week, Valley College will play host to its own basketball tournament, beginning today and running through Thursday.
“We lost, and I feel we should have won each game,” Valley Coach Jim Stephens said of losses to Cypress and Antelope Valley. “It was just a bad couple of days, but you have those things . . . I think we play a little better at home.”
Valley (6-5) will open with an 8 p.m. game against East L.A (5-9), which lost to the Monarchs, 125-100, in the first round of the Antelope Valley tournament.
In other first-round matchups today: Citrus plays Pasadena at 2 p.m.; Hancock (ranked sixth in the state) plays Los Angeles City (17th) at 4 p.m.; and Trade Tech plays Ventura (13th) at 6 p.m.
