Kitty Dukakis to Join Holocaust Council
WASHINGTON — President Bush will nominate Kitty Dukakis, the wife of his former Democratic presidential rival, for a post on the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Council, the White House announced Tuesday.
Mrs. Dukakis, who is Jewish, has previously served on the President’s Commission on the Holocaust. She will replace Milton Himmelfarb to complete a term that expires Jan. 15, 1991.
The commission, composed of 10 members of Congress and 55 public members, was set up to raise money and build a national Holocaust museum to perpetuate the memory of the Nazi extermination of Jews during World War II.
