Ferrante Sans Teicher: Arthur Ferrante, half of the piano duo Ferrante & Teicher, began his solo career Tuesday with a concert in Shreveport, La., the city where he and Louis Teicher began their 37-year, gold-record selling sojourn. The two last performed in November, 1988, in Florida, but while Teicher has dropped from the performance picture, Ferrante has issued two recordings in recent months. His concert at the Strand, Shreveport’s baroque movie palace, mixed stand-up banter and serious sit-down playing, traveling the distance from Willie Nelson’s “On the Road Again” to Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “The Sound of Music.”
