2 Men, Woman Rob Tarzana Jewelry Store
Three robbers escaped with jewels worth hundreds of thousands of dollars from a Tarzana store just as its employees were closing up, Los Angeles police said Thursday.
Two men and a woman entered Marcel’s Unique Jewelry in the 19300 block of Ventura Boulevard about 6 p.m. Wednesday as two employees were closing for the night and the business’ two safes were open, Detective Vic Morett said.
The two men pointed guns at the employees and ordered them onto the floor. The robbers emptied both safes of a variety of jewelry and unset gems and left through the front door, Morett said. No one was injured.
The value of the stolen merchandise has not been determined but Morett estimated that the loss could be in excess of $300,000, based on the wholesale cost of what was taken.
