El Toro Defeats Carson City, 59-50, in Tournament Final
Rob Johnson had 18 points to lead El Toro High School to a 59-50 victory over Carson City in the Carson City, Nev., basketball tournament Friday.
El Toro (8-1) trailed, 17-12, with three minutes left in the first quarter but went on a 21-4 run to lead at halftime, 34-25. Carson City (7-2) pulled within one in the third quarter, but Johnson hit a three-pointer shot and a jump shot to help hold off the charge.
Johnson was named the tournament’s most valuable player and teammate Tim Caserez, who had 11 Friday, was named to the all-tournament team.
