FEAR AND REALITY

Statistics can always work to serve whatever viewpoint you wish. They can also alienate people from the reality they see and feel. As I read “Fear and Reality,” I gathered you want Californians to see how much good the influx of foreigners has done, and how successful some of these people have become here.

I, too, am an immigrant--from Connecticut, 1947. Statistics in our family indicate that the ‘60s and early ‘70s here were the years that gave us the highest quality of life, not necessarily in economic terms.

The quality of life has gone down, and this is due to the influx of people (foreign or otherwise), the cars, trucks, planes and ships bringing in the goods and providing services to support them. The fact is that Southern California is not the place it used to be--not a good place to drive, go to school, work, amuse yourself or to live, let alone breathe.
