U.S. Forces Invade Panama, Oust Noriega Regime

It is ironic that exactly when the Soviet Union has enough courage to admit that invasion of other countries is wrong we invade Panama, murdering many innocent women and children in the process. Since the end of World War II we have meddled in the affairs of most Third-World countries. We have participated in many coups against democratically elected sovereign governments. We have caused the assassination, and have attempted to assassinate, many world leaders. We illegally have bombed neutral nations. We shot down civilian airliners and blamed the victims. We aid right-wing death squads and train torturers. We look after dictators as long as they are ours and throw them to the dogs as soon as they show a modicum of independence.

At the end of it all we self-righteously claim that we are the paragon of freedom and human rights. No wonder our government is thought of as the enemy by most of the have-nots. “Yes, Dan Quayle, there is an evil empire, and the evil empire is us.”
