NHL Great Doug Harvey Dies at 65
Doug Harvey, considered one of the greatest NHL defenseman ever, died after a long illness in a Montreal hospital Tuesday, one week after his 65th birthday.
Harvey, elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1973, played in the NHL for 21 seasons, including 14 with the Montreal Canadiens, whom he led to six Stanley Cups. He won the Norris Trophy seven times as the league’s top defenseman and was voted to the NHL’s all-star team 11 times.
The funeral will be Friday in Montreal.
