Goalie Stephane Fiset stopped 33 shots, and Dave Chyzowski scored the winning goal as Canada opened the world junior hockey championship tournament with a 3-2 victory over the United States at Turku, Finland.
Fiset, a second-team all-star in last year’s tournament, kept Canada in the game in the first period, when his team was outshot, 14-8. Rob Gaudreau and Ted Drury scored for the Americans.
