Keating Brother Dropped From Suit: Federal attorneys dismissed a brother of millionaire Charles H. Keating Jr. as a defendant in a $1.1-billion lawsuit stemming from the failure of a savings and loan owned by Keating’s American Continental Corp. William J. Keating was one of several family members and American Continental executives named in a lawsuit filed in September by the Resolution Trust Corp., the federal agency responsible for cleaning up the thrift industry. William Keating is president of the Detroit Newspaper Agency and chairman of the Associated Press. The lawsuit accused Charles Keating, several family members and other senior company officers of devising a scheme to loot Lincoln Savings & Loan Assn.
