‘Heathers’ Actor Arrested for Alleged Drunk Driving
A film actor whose credits include “Heathers” and “Tucker” was jailed Friday after he allegedly led authorities on a chase, crashed his sports car into a pole and fought with sheriff’s deputies.
Christian Slater, 20, was booked for investigation of drunk driving, hit and run, driving with a suspended license, evading arrest and assault on a peace officer, Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies said. Bail was set at $3,000.
Sheriff’s Deputy Dean Scoville said deputies tried to stop a Saab early Friday that was driving in excess of 50 m.p.h. in a 35- m.p.h. zone near Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood. When one deputy tried to stop the motorist, the car sped off, made two right turns and drove into an alley, where it slammed into a telephone pole.
Three passengers remained in the car while Slater allegedly got out and scaled a chain-link fence. When three deputies tried to arrest him, a “small struggle” ensued, police said.
The actor was ordered to appear Jan. 19 in Municipal Court for arraignment, Scoville said.
